10/09/2020 - St. John Fisher College has formally joined the United Way’s 21-Day Equity Challenge, an effort to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect individuals and the community. Fisher is among more than 100 organizations participating in the Challenge, which runs from Friday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Nov. 20.

10/08/2020 - This week, College News’ #ClubCorner features the Black Student Union. Also known as BSU, this club gives people of color a voice at Fisher, and aims to educate the campus community about the experience of being a black student on the Fisher campus. BSU supports black students, affirms their culture, and offers a safe space for students to share their views and opinions, as well as voice changes they want to see implemented on campus.

PRIMA Hosts Diversity and Inclusion Panel Annette Ramos, Erin Barry, and Jessica Lewis will serve as panelist for the discussion.

10/06/2020 - The PRIMA Group, St. John Fisher College’s student-run integrated advertising, public relations, and marketing firm, will host a panel discussion on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Chemistry Faculty Leads Food Box Program in Puerto Rico Residents of Puerto Rico unload food boxes, thanks to a collaboration between Puerto Rico Rise Up and Caribbean Produce. Fisher Professor Dr. Kermin J. Martínez-Hernández helped organize the effort.

09/16/2020 - Though he may be a Rochester resident now, Dr. Kermin J. Martínez-Hernández, an associate professor of chemistry at St. John Fisher College, remains a strong advocate for his native Puerto Rico.

The project consists of a series of flag-inspired panels representing inclusion, patriotism, and compassion in the context of the many intersectional communities at Fisher. This creative undertaking is just one result of ongoing interdepartmental diversity and inclusion work at the College.

01/07/2020 - For the tenth year, the Office of Multicultural Affairs is organizing its Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hospitality Drive to benefit local charities in the Rochester community.

First-Year Students Participate in New Creed Ceremony Two first-year students deliver a presentation about the Fisher Creed.

12/06/2019 - For over 20 years, incoming first-year students have signed the Fisher Creed as part of the annual Matriculation Ceremony, officially marking the end of their Orientation and the beginning of their student journey. But this fall, throughout the final week of classes, first-year students participated in new Creed signing ceremonies while also reflecting on what they have learned in their first semester at Fisher.
