Financial Aid Checklists
Whether you are a new or returning student, our helpful checklists will make the financial aid process go smoothly.
Undergraduate Checklists
New/Prospective Undergraduate Students
- Apply to colleges.
- Start a financial aid folder to retain copies of tax transcripts, W-2's, and aid documents.
- Obtain a FSA ID from the U.S. Department of Education.
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Fisher's priority deadline is January 15 and Fisher's school code is 002821.
- Complete the Express TAP application (ETA) online following the FAFSA or on the TAP website. Fisher's TAP undergraduate school code is 0735.
- Review your FAFSA submission summary for accuracy. If necessary, make a correction to your FAFSA and submit any changes.
- Investigate private resources of financial aid for college. Check your school, local library, and online at websites such as Fastweb.
- Receive acceptance letters from colleges.
- Receive your financial aid offers listing estimated aid eligibility. Review any accompanying information and contact Student Financial Services with any questions.
- Fulfill admissions/housing deposits by college deadline.
- Accept financial aid offered on Fish 'R' Net.
- Promptly respond to any school requests for additional information or documents, such as copies of federal tax returns/transcripts and W-2's.
- Notify the Office of Student Financial Services of any outside scholarships, grants, or other resources you have received or will receive by entering the scholarship information on Fish 'R' Net.
- Complete entrance counseling for any Federal Direct Student Loan you have accepted.
- Complete your Master Promissory Note (MPN) for any Federal Direct Student Loan you have accepted.
- Complete any financing options paperwork needed, such as the payment plan application, PLUS loan instructions, and/or private student loan application. Additional information can be found on the Financing Options page.
- Be alert to any billing notices and payment information.
- Explore placement procedures and job availability if awarded work-study or find out about other student employment opportunities available in the campus community.
Current/Returning Undergraduate Students
- Using your FSA ID from the U.S. Department of Education, complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Fisher's priority deadline is January 15, and Fisher's school code is 002821.

- Accept financial aid offered on Fish 'R' Net.
- If you are accepting a Federal Direct Student Loan and are a first-time borrower, complete entrance counseling and the Master Promissory Note (MPN).
- Complete any financing options paperwork needed, such as the payment plan application, Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan application (all borrowers) and MPN (first time borrowers), and/or a private student loan application. Additional information can be found on the Financing Options page.
- Be alert to any electronic billing notices and payment information.
- Explore placement procedures and job availability if awarded work-study or find out about other student employment opportunities available on campus.
Graduate Checklists

- Notify the Office of Student Financial Services of any outside scholarships, grants, or other resources you have received or will receive by entering the information on Fish 'R' Net.
- Receive an email notifying you that your financial aid offer listing estimated aid eligibility is available on Fish 'R' Net. Log on to Fish 'R' Net and review the information. Contact Student Financial Services with any questions.
- Accept financial aid offered on Fish 'R' Net.
- If you are accepting a Federal Direct Student Loan(s) and you are a first-time borrower, complete loan entrance counseling and the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for student loans.
- If you need additional funds through the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan program, complete the application and first-time borrowers will need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
- Be alert to any electronic billing notices and payment information.
