Fannie & Sam Constantino First-Generation Scholarship Application Instructions
Thank you for your interest in the Fannie & Sam Constantino First-Generation Scholarship.
Instructions to the Candidate
- The scholarship application review begins on December 15 and will continue until the final application deadline of January 15. Remember to keep a copy for your records.
- All candidates for the First-Generation Scholarship must also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by January 15.
- Finalists will be contacted for an interview.
- All applicants will be notified of a decision no later than March 1.

Questions for the Candidate
Leadership Roles
Please describe a minimum of one, and up to two, roles or activities from the last four years that best demonstrate your leadership capabilities and what you learned from that experience.
- Describe a leadership role you held and within what club or organization.
- Why was this experience important to you, and what made you want to start and keep doing it? Please write at least three sentences.
- What did you learn about your leadership style as a result? Please write at least three sentences.

Community Engagement Information
Please describe a minimum of one, and up to two, examples that demonstrate your commitment to helping others in a community. Examples may include volunteering for a non-profit, helping others through service, tutoring, mentoring, or fundraising activities that you did on your own or with others, etc.
Please select experiences from your high school years that were meaningful to you and best describe your relationship to service to and for others.
- Describe the service or volunteer position you had with the organization or individual. Please provide as much detail as possible.
- Describe why this experience was meaningful and what motivated you to get and stay involved. Please write at least three sentences.
- Describe if this example was done through your high school tied to a mandated requirement or done separately as a volunteer.
- How did you learn and grow from this experience? Please write at least three sentences.

Essay
Please answer the following question in the space provided. Your answer should be at least 250 words but no more than 500 words.
Please explain why you would like to be a First-Generation Scholar at Fisher, specifically by answering the following prompts:
- What are you excited to experience and learn as a student in this First-Generation Scholarship Program?
- If you are chosen for the First-Generation Scholarship Program, what unique things will you bring to the community that will help you grow as a leader?
- The First-Generation Scholarship Program is also focused on engaging with our Rochester community through structured and weekly community engagement/volunteerism. How do you think participating in this way during your college experience will help you learn and develop your leadership skills?
