Integrating IDD and Neurodiversity Content into Nursing Curriculum
In April 2024, Dr. Holly Brown and Dr. Janiece DeSocio gave a presentation on integrating IDD and neurodiversity content into nursing curriculum at the International Society of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurses. The presentation emphasized the increasing need for inclusive and accessible care, particularly for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Attendees learned solutions for integrating neurodiversity concepts into graduate nursing education curricula, aiming to better prepare APRNs for providing high-quality, equitable, and patient-centered care.

DEI: Where’s the A?
Earlier this month, Dr. Holly Brown and Dr. Beth Kiss, from the Golisano Institute and Dr. Tricia Gatlin from the Wegmans School of Nursing, presented “DEI: Where’s the A?” about integrating DEI teaching strategies for didactic, clinical, or simulation learning experiences into an undergraduate curriculum at the AACN Diversity Symposium in New Orleans.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Transform 2023 Conference was held from November 30 - December 2, 2023. Strategies for Managing Anxiety Disorders in Youth with ASD: It’s All About Interprofessional Collaboration
Dr. Holly Brown and Dr. Debbi Napilitano presented “Strategies for managing anxiety disorders in youth with ASD: It’s all about interprofessional collaboration," at the Western New York Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (WNYRCASD) annual conference on Friday, March 18.
The presentation emphasized the need for interprofessional communication and decision-making among health care teams, which is essential in the context of understanding the complex interactions between medications and behaviors when working with individuals with ASD and anxiety disorders.
