Student Employment
Lavery Library employs approximately 15-20 federal work study students during the school year and 3-5 students during the summer.
Students who have been awarded federal work study assistance in their financial aid package may pick up an application for employment at the Library checkout desk at any time. It is not necessary to have a work study award to work during the summer, although students with experience at the Library are preferred.
The majority of hiring is done at the beginning of each fall semester. However, some students may be hired throughout the year as positions become available or as more student aides are needed.
A work study position could be in any of the following areas: access services, acquisitions, systems, or periodicals. Most students work in access services assisting with circulation and interlibrary loan. The average student work week will be 6-8 hours. Specific schedules are arranged with individual area supervisors.
Inquire at the checkout desk in person or call (585) 385-8165 if you have any further questions.
