Douglass News Inventory
Frederick Douglass, one of the true giants of nineteenth century American history, spent 25 years of his life (1847-1872) here in Rochester, New York. This was his base as he published The North Star, Frederick Douglass' Paper, and Douglass' Monthly. Lavery Library is very fortunate to have original copies of 147 of these influential newspapers. The following descriptive tool is a chronological record of all of the Library's Douglass newspaper holdings.
