Anthropology Internships and Activities

Internship Opportunities

Anthropology majors receive valuable hands-on experience through internship opportunities at area museums and beyond. Recent internships have included work at anthropology-related organizations such as:

  • Mt. Vernon National Monument
  • The Rochester Museum and Science Center
  • The George Eastman Museum
  • Strong Museum of Play

Off-Campus Learning

In this program, learning isn’t confined solely to the classroom. Fieldwork opportunities include taking part in archaeological digs in upstate New York or around the world. Fisher anthropology majors have worked at fieldwork sites as close as the old Charlotte Lighthouse in Rochester and as far away as Ukraine and Belize. Fisher also offers two summer archeology field school programs, in nearby Mount Morris and Hemlock, N.Y.

Anthropology majors also are encouraged to spend a semester or full year studying abroad. Semesters in Greece, Australia, and elsewhere feature anthropological course work, while virtually every abroad program allows for up close and personal study of other cultures. Or you can take advantage of the anthropology program's participation in The Washington Experience, spending a semester learning and working in Washington, D.C.
