From Fisher’s First Female Class to Fiction Author: ’76 Alumna Elizabeth Dollard Bysiek Elizabeth Dollard Bysiek

10/29/2024 - Elizabeth Dollard Bysiek, also known by her pen name “Elizabeth St. Michel,” was a member of the first female class to live on Fisher’s campus in 1976. At Fisher, she majored in business and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. Today, she is the successful author of nine historical romance novels. Her most recent book, On Prevailing Winds, was published in 2022.

10/28/2024 - St. John Fisher University has received a grant for the 2024 First-Generation College Celebration national initiative from the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and FirstGen Forward with support from TIAA and the Strada Education Foundation.

10/25/2024 - Student interest in club sports is growing on St. John Fisher University’s campus and students are working to increase the number of club sports available. Three undergraduates—Jenna Hoffman, Brendan Evans, and Adam Jones—worked hard last year to bring club basketball to campus.

10/24/2024 - This spring, students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to participate in a one-act play festival in the new Black Box Theater in the Arts Center in Murphy Hall.

10/23/2024 - Each year, St. John Fisher University students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in The Clothesline Project, a national program that addresses the issue of gender-based violence.

Fisher, Rochester Education Foundation Host Future Fair Seventh grade students from RCSD engage in an activity during the Future Fair.

10/23/2024 - On Friday, Oct. 11, the inaugural Future Fair brought 600 seventh grade students from the Rochester City School District (RCSD) to campus for an empowering, career-focused day. The event was cohosted by St. John Fisher University’s Institute for Civic and Community Engagement and the Rochester Education Foundation (REF).

10/23/2024 - This summer, Dr. Matthew Bereza, psychology professor and chair of the Behavioral Sciences Division at St. John Fisher University, published a textbook in collaboration with peers Dr. Lisa Kahle-Piasecki and Dante Castro Solano.

10/22/2024 - During a special ceremony, St. John Fisher University honored 15 graduates who have found success in their careers and have been influential in serving their communities. The celebration recognized Dean’s Medal recipients from each of the five Schools and graduates of the last decade with the Ten Under 10 Awards.

10/21/2024 - During a ceremony held on Saturday, Oct. 19, members of the St. John Fisher University community gathered to celebrate 25 years of Dugan Yard, cut the ribbon on the newly opened Player Development Center, and recognize Kevin ’70 and Peggy Dugan, whose decades of philanthropy turned the area from a single baseball field in the early 2000s to the world-class complex it has become today.
