Annual Day of Celebration Open to All
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Office of Multicultural Affairs will team up with clubs across campus and local community organizations to host St. John Fisher College’s annual Day of Celebration.
The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. in Cleary Family Auditorium in Kearney Hall.
This year’s focal cultures are Trinidad and Sudan. The day will include food, music, and dance performances from cultural groups. There will be make-and-take crafts for children, as well.
The event also features performances by Alfred St. John's Trindad & Tobago Steelband, Dan Verno, Kogolo Company, Chinese School, Borinquen Dance Theatre, St. John Fisher College Irish Dance Club, University of Rochester Bhangra, St. John Fisher College Black Student Union, St. John Fisher College Fisher Dance Club, Latinos De Corazon, Frances Hare, and the Frida Kahlo Fashion Show. Saint Nicholas and Santa Claus will also make appearances.
"It is imperative that the Fisher family and the Rochester community be exposed to the multicultural world in which we inhabit," said Juana Vega, assistant director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. "This is also a fun way for our diverse community members to share their many cultures with peers, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community."
The event is free and open to the community.
