Events Planned for First Gen Celebration Day
St. John Fisher College will join a nationwide celebration of first-generation students on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Launched by the Council for Opportunity in Education, the First-Generation College Student Celebration Day provides an opportunity for colleges and universities to formally recognize the presence and experiences of first-generation students. At Fisher, first-generation students make up nearly 20 percent of the undergraduate population.
Fisher’s observance will start one day early, with a First-Gen Kick-off Celebration from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Golisano Gateway Midlevel. During the kick-off event, students can pick-up special t-shirts, hear remarks from President Rooney, and win a variety of prizes.
