School of Business Earns Beta Gamma Sigma High Honors Designation

The St. John Fisher College School of Business recently earned High Honors designation by the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the international business honor society.

BGS is open to AACSB-accredited schools, which include the top five percent of business school programs around the world. Each year, Fisher taps select undergraduate and graduate students to its chapter, inviting them join a worldwide network of more than 625,000 business professionals who have earned recognition through lifetime membership in BGS.

The High Honors designation is the highest level of recognition a chapter can earn in BGS’ Chapter Honor Roll program, and it recognizes the School for commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and student success.

Chapters that make the BGS Honor Roll have the opportunity to nominate for society-wide awards and yearlong international recognition at business education conferences.

There were 26 new students who accepted their invitation to BGS membership this past academic year.

“Our Beta Gamma Sigma honorees embrace the idea that business leadership includes giving back to the local community,” said Dr. Jason Bermin, faculty advisor for Fisher's chapter. “Each year we undertake a service project where BGS students read to young children in a neighborhood school and then donate the storybooks we bring. Just glance at the little kids' faces all lit up and you can see how much they love it. And our 'big kids' love it even more.”
