Salerno Named Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting
St. John Fisher College alumnus and Board of Trustees member Victor E. Salerno ’66 was selected to become a Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting, through the National Electrical Contractors Association. He was formally installed into the Academy on Tuesday, Oct. 6, during NECA 2020 LIVE, the association’s virtual convention and trade show.
Fellowship in the Academy of Electrical Contracting is one of the highest honors bestowed upon an individual in the industry. The Academy honors outstanding leaders in the electrical contracting industry, as it preserves and utilizes their wealth of experience and knowledge for the benefit of the industry.
Salerno serves as chief executive officer of O’Connell Electric Company, one of the largest electrical contractors in the country. As CEO, he is responsible for defining the strategic vision and culture of the organization, managing day-to-day operations, promoting a safe work environment, developing business opportunities, and maintaining company goals.
Salerno joined O’Connell in 1971, and he has remained instrumental in the company’s year-over-year growth as well as the expansion of its service offerings. He leads through exhibiting an infectious passion for the business and by demonstrating integrity in all areas of responsibility.
Salerno takes an active role in several professional organizations, including treasurer of the Rochester Builders Exchange, board member for Unions and Businesses United in Construction, past president of the Rochester Chapter Construction Financial Management Association; and trustee of the pension and insurance funds at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 86 – Rochester, NY. He is also past chairman of the Board for the Community Technology Assessment Advisory Board.
