Weeklong Events Celebrate Pharmacy Profession
A weeklong series of events at the Wegmans School of Pharmacy will celebrate the pharmacy profession.
Designed by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the week is an opportunity to educate the public about the role of pharmacists as members of the health care team and advance the profession. The week also coincides with the American Pharmacists’ Association’s designation of October as American Pharmacists’ Month.
“National Pharmacy Month is a way to celebrate the profession and raise awareness of the work pharmacists are doing on the frontlines every day,” said Dr. Christine Birnie, dean of the School. “This is especially evident during the current COVID-19 pandemic, where pharmacists remained accessible in their communities and health centers, even at risk of exposure.”
The celebration will begin with a live Kick Off event from 11:15 to 11:50 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, outside the School of Pharmacy building. Meet the Fisher Pharmacy Cardinal, try your luck in a raffle, grab some swag, and enjoy socially distanced photo opportunities!
All other programs are virtual and run from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m.
