Ninety-Nine Employees, Including Longest Serving Faculty Member, Recognized for Service
St. John Fisher College faculty and staff were recently recognized for milestone years of service during the annual Service Awards Ceremony.
Among those honored was Dr. Don Muench, the College’s longest serving faculty member and loyal alumnus as a graduate of the Pioneer Class of 1955. Celebrating 55 years of service to Fisher, Muench returned to campus in 1966, when the College had just over 1,120 students enrolled. He has known all seven presidents, has seen decades of growth and change, and most recently served as mace bearer during the College’s Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020.
Dr. Charles Natoli from the Philosophy Department arrived 10 years later, and has been here for 45 years. The same year he arrived, the chemistry building received an addition and the College enrollment had increased to just over 1,800 students.
In all, the 99 faculty and staff were recognized during the ceremony have given more than 1,365 years of service to the College. President Rooney was among those celebrating 25 years of service. In remarks during the ceremony, he recognized each of the milestone employees for their important service to the College.
“Your dedication to the College has manifested itself in many ways. It has allowed Fisher to grow into the outstanding institution it is today. The work that each of you do renews our purpose and broadens our impact, and ensures that Fisher remains true to its mission and history, while remaining student-focused and open to change to best serve those we have the privilege of serving,” he said. “The students appreciate you, and they see you as role models who they remember long past their graduation from Fisher and into their personal and professional lives.”
