Courage Bowl XVII: More than just a Game
On Saturday, Oct. 1, St. John Fisher University’s football team played SUNY Brockport in one of the biggest games in Division III athletics: Courage Bowl XVII.
More than a game, the annual contest is a staple in the community and raises funds for Camp Good Days and Special Times.
During the Courage Bowl, both teams had a special group of fans on their sidelines, as each year Camp Good Days selects kids affiliated with their programs to serve as honorary coaches and cheerleaders. The 2022 Honorary Coaches were Braxton Anjo, age 11, and Jack Harrison, age 11, and the Cardinal Honorary Cheerleaders were Kya Bach, age 9, and Karleigh Sackett, age 11.
The Cardinals fell to Brockport, 25-0. Up next for the team is a home matchup against Morrisville State College on Saturday, Oct. 8. The contest is slated to kick-off at 1 p.m. at Growney Stadium.
