Pharmacy Week Puts Spotlight on Profession
October is for the pharmacists! Each year, the Wegmans School of Pharmacy joins a nationwide effort to shine the spotlight on the pharmacy profession during the month of October.
The American Society of Health-system Pharmacists designates the week of October 16-23 as an opportunity to educate the public about the role of pharmacists as members of the health care team and advance the profession (ASHP National Pharmacy Week). The week also coincides with the American Pharmacists’ Association’s designation of October as American Pharmacists’ Month (APhA American Pharmacy Month).
“These commemorations are a great way to raise awareness of how pharmacists serve our community,” said Dr. Christine Birnie, dean of the School. “The School of Pharmacy will host a range of activities throughout the month to celebrate, educate, and advocate for the profession.”
