Off to the Races in Business Psychology
Born and raised in East Syracuse, New York, Jennah Ferrari ’23 found her calling at St. John Fisher University. Prior to attending Fisher, Ferrari knew her interests including education, psychology, and financial planning. At Fisher, she was able to explore career paths outside of classroom teaching, something that opened her eyes to the options available to her.
“I was able to break barriers by participating in numerous internships, including an executive internship and the Disney College Program, along with many independent research studies focused on iPads and distractions, Disney training case study, and iPad multitasking,” she said.
Ferrari pointed to Dr. Sara Goodman as being especially influential to her personal and professional development during her undergraduate studies. Sharing a first-generation student connection and a drive to learn, Ferrari said their similarities were essential to the bond they formed, which led Ferrari to the path that she is now on.
For eight months, Ferrari was a member of the Disney College Program, working at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. A life-long Disney fan, she had high praise for the company and the program.
“I learned so many amazing things from giving safari tours everyday and creating memories for guests. It also inspired me to fall in love with animals, wildlife, and conservation,” she said. “I was able to educate people every day in a non-traditional classroom setting. It showed how I may not be teaching in a classroom, but I can still teach and inspire others wherever I go.”
The months following graduation have been busy for Ferrari. This month, she will begin a position as a resident coordinator for Summer Discovery, a middle/high school pre-college enrichment program at the University of Michigan. In August, she will move to Fairfax, Virginia, to begin a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology at George Mason University, continuing to grow and develop the skills that she learned and refined at Fisher.
