Seward Scholarship Awardee has Passion for Film
St. John Fisher University senior Gianna Giglio ’24 was recently awarded the 2024 Seward Scholarship, given by the Department of Media and Communication. The scholarship honors former faculty member Jim Seward and his 41 years of college teaching, over half of which were spent at Fisher.
Giglio is a media and communication major with a minor in film and television studies. She has explored and mastered film production by completing film studies classes and every production course offered through the Department. During summer 2023, she participated in Fisher’s Summer Fellows Research Program, working under the guidance of Dr. Todd Sodano. This spring, she will pursue an honors senior project (with her co-director, Ashley Shortino) to turn a short documentary into a feature-length film. Giglio serves as the general manager of Cardinal Television and is vice president of Best Buddies at Fisher. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in social media management or television production.
The scholarship is open to full-time juniors or seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Applicants must submit a cover letter, writing samples, and a portfolio of work to be considered.
