TESA Hosts School Supply Drive
The Teacher Education Student Association (TESA) at St. John Fisher University is holding a school supply drive throughout the month of November to benefit Pencils & Paper.
Pencils & Paper, a resource through the Jewish Family Service of Rochester, provides free school supplies to teachers working in high poverty schools in the Rochester region. Teachers can shop twice a year at their Jay Street storefront and receive an estimated $1,400 worth of school supplies at each shopping trip.
“Pencils and Paper is an amazing organization and truly aligns with our mission as future teachers which is to provide kids with the tools they need to thrive,” said Briana Wood, vice president of TESA. “Donating school supplies to low-income schools is such a great cause, and we are so delighted to be part of something so beautiful.”
Collection bins are located in Cyber Café, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, Kearney Hall, and the Donald E. Bain Campus Center. All supplies are appreciated, but items of most need include:
- Staplers
- Staples
- Binder Clips
- Pencil Cases/Pouches
- Elmer’s Glue (4 oz. bottles)
On Thursday, Nov. 30, members of TESA will volunteer at the Pencils & Paper storefront to sort and stock the donated supplies.
