Wegmans School of Nursing, Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Host Turkey Drive
An ongoing partnership between the Wegmans School of Nursing and Mt. Olivet Baptist Church helped provide more than 50 families in Rochester with baskets including a turkey and items for a complete Thanksgiving meal.
Between fundraising efforts and support from Wegmans Food Markets, members of the Student Nursing Association, School of Nursing faculty and staff, and Mt. Olivet leadership came together to pack the meal baskets. At an event on Monday, Nov. 20, families were able to pick up the baskets, just in time for the holiday. More than half of the baskets were specifically given to the families of Rochester City School District students.
The School of Nursing and Mt. Olivet have partnered on several initiatives in the last several years, including hosting clinics to provide the COVID-19 bivalent booster, flu vaccines, preventative screenings, and distribute information about diet and exercise.
“This was another successful collaboration between Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and St. John Fisher University Wegmans School of Nursing,” said Pastor Rickey B. Harvey Sr. “This event exemplifies both the importance of effective collaboration and the power of partnerships, especially those that serve a diverse population. We look forward to continuing to work together in and for our community.”
