Fisher Then and Now: 75 Years of Transformation Available for Purchase
Fisher Then and Now: 75 Years of Transformation tells the story of the beginnings of the “College on the Hill” to the anchor institution that St. John Fisher University is today. Published in 2023 as part of the University’s 75th anniversary celebration, the limited-edition book is now on sale, just in time for the annual Alumni Weekend.
The University worked with Donning Publishing to delve into Fisher history. Author John Galluzzo spent time on campus in spring 2024 with University Archivist Nancy Greco. He also enjoyed a tour of campus, and interviewed alumni, faculty, staff, and students, as well as President Rooney.
The book begins at the end of World War II, when the Congregation of St. Basil established the new Catholic men’s college. The College was announced on August 29, 1947, by then Bishop James E. Kearney and Reverend Father Hugh Haffey, and the campus opened in 1951 with 110 students. Through the interviews and the University’s rich archives, the author tells the story decade by decade through the present day as St. John Fisher University.
A limited supply is now available for $49.99 at The Cardinal Shop on campus and via the online bookstore (plus shipping).
