December 3, 2024

Dr. Kris H. Green, professor of mathematics and physics, will explore the intersection of mathematics and climate modeling during the December First Friday Lecture.

Dr. Kris Green

The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 in the James ’71 and Kathleen Leo Community Room in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center.

Green’s talk, “Climate, Computation, and Complexity,” will explore how scientists model the Earth’s climate even as weather prediction proves difficult.

The First Friday Lecture Series, sponsored by the 1948 Society, is designed for individuals who are interested in hearing learned perspectives on a variety of topics from members of the St. John Fisher University and greater Rochester communities.

A light breakfast reception will be held at 10 a.m., and attendees are welcome to attend Mass at 12:30 p.m. at the Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great following the lecture.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will also be available via Zoom. Advanced registration is encouraged. Parking is available in Lot A by the Skalny Welcome Center.
