RBJ’s 2024 Forty Under 40 Includes Three from Fisher

This fall, three members of the St. John Fisher University community will be honored during the Rochester Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 awards program.

Among the honorees are Dr. Yi Liu, assistant professor of finance in the School of Business; alumna Yasmin Mattox ’21 (M.S.), iZone director, University of Rochester; and Family Business Program steering committee member Tae’lor Jackson, president, Panther Graphics.

Forty Under 40 recognizes 40 individuals, under the age of 40, who have achieved professional success and who are giving back in meaningful ways to the Rochester community. A panel of judges consisting of previous winners from various professions selected the Forty Under 40 honorees. Since its founding in 1995, more than 1,100 outstanding young professionals have received this honor. The honorees will be recognized during a celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Strong Museum of Play.

Dr. Yi Liu

An active researcher, Liu has presented at national conferences, including the CFP Board Academic Research Colloquium, Academy Financial Service, and the AFCPE Symposium. Her research interests are focused on financial planning, investment decision making, psychosocial attributes and household finances, specifically stock ownership, asset decumulation, personality traits, financial well-being, and the application of positive psychology to financial planning. Since earning her Ph.D. in 2020, she has published six papers in financial planning journals including the Financial Planning Review, Journal of Family and Economic Issues, Journal of Personal Finance, and Applied Economics Letters. In 2023, she was recognized among Investment News’ Class of Forty Under 40 recipients.

Liu earned an M.S. and Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University, an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a B.A. in Marketing from China. Prior to her time at Fisher, she worked as an assistant professor in the Finance and Economics Department at College for Financial Planning.
