Fisher Announces Reduced Tuition Plan for Select Education Master’s Degrees
The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher University is introducing a new reduced tuition model for its master’s degree programs in inclusive education, library media, literacy education, and educational leadership. The new tuition will be effective beginning summer 2025.
“In an effort to broaden access, provide affordability, and do our part to fill the teacher shortage, the University is offering our master’s degree programs at a reduced tuition rate,” said Dr. Joellen Maples, dean of the School.
Each program is offered in an online or hybrid modality, providing students with flexibility and convenience as they pursue graduate study. The inclusive education program is designed for individuals looking to make a career change to become a teacher, while the library media, literacy, and educational leadership programs provide educators with the knowledge and skills to advance in their education career to become teacher librarians, literacy professionals, or building leaders. The curricula align with the School’s social justice conceptual framework focused on diversity, achievement, compassion, knowledge, and service.
The School of Education is accredited based on the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standards through 2026. CAEP is the only nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation; Fisher is among just 24 colleges in New York State with CAEP accreditation. In addition, the School celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024; bestowing more than 1,400 undergraduate degrees and more than 3,150 master’s and doctoral degrees. Fisher-prepared educators teach in classrooms and lead school buildings across the country.
“There have been many changes across teacher education over the past 20 years, and we have responded to those changes so that our teacher candidates are prepared to meet the needs of their future students,” said Maples. “Our new tuition structure is a testament to our commitment to preparing and advancing the next generation of educators in the Rochester region and beyond.”
