Save the Date for the 2025 Spirit of Identity Week
St. John Fisher University will kick off the spring 2025 semester with the third annual Spirit of Identity Week.
Throughout the week of Monday, Jan. 20, events and activities will celebrate the diversity of campus and foster a sense of community and belonging for students, faculty, and staff. Spirit of Identity Week events are hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs in collaboration with several of Fisher’s student organizations.
The Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) will perform a read-through of “The Laramie Project,” which tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student, and the aftermath of his murder in Laramie, Wyoming. SAGA has issued a call for readers, with opportunities for both small and large roles. No previous theater experience is needed. If interested, complete the Call for Readers Interest Form or email Courtney Beals at cab05751@sjf.edu.
The Black Student Union (BSU) will host the Fifty Shades of Brown Black Excellence Gala–an event that will uplift Black voices, advocate for the power of higher education, and honor diverse cultural richness. An annual tradition on campus, the gala features delicious food, inspiring guest speakers, awards, and performances to celebrate the beauty, strength, and legacy of the Black community. RSVPs are encouraged.
