Student Volunteers Needed for Rochester Education Foundation’s Future Fair
Students: Sign up to volunteer at the Rochester Education Foundation’s (REF) Future Fair, to be held at St. John Fisher University on Friday, Oct. 11.
The Future Fair will host approximately 1,000 seventh grade students from the Rochester City School District in an effort to empower them to seek out future career paths. Student volunteers are needed at the event from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to help with the following services:
- Help set up the event before it begins and follow up after it concludes
- Serve as group facilitators
- Serve as bus greeters for 7th graders
- Share experiences as a college student with assigned group
- Receive group’s schedule and guide them through stations
- Take pictures of students with their empowerment signs and send them to event coordinator
- Escort first round of students back to their buses and pick up the next incoming group
Student volunteers must attend a virtual training session, to be held during free period (12:30 to 1:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, Oct. 8. A Zoom link will be sent to registered volunteers.
The Future Fair will feature dozens of career models from various fields, including firefighters, entrepreneurs, CEOs and company presidents, doctors, and more. These career models will share their experience in their professions and the path that was needed to get them there. Students are encouraged to share their experiences from high school and their time in college.
