Countdown to Commencement: Stella Do
Utica native Stella Do is the next member of the Class of 2019 to be featured in our Countdown to Commencement series. She was nominated by Tara Preteroti, assistant director of the College’s Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).
Do came to Fisher with nursing on the brain. Since her arrival, she has been actively involved on campus as a member of the Asian Student Union, Sustainability Club, Sustained Dialogue, and a volunteer for the Service Saturday programs. She has also worked in the HEOP Office and in the Writing Center, and has served as a peer advisor for HEOP. “Stella is someone I can always rely on,” said Preteroti. “She has worked in our office all four years and is a fantastic role model for other students.” In 2018, Do won the Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield Diversity Award for her part in the planning and execution of the College’s Annual Day of Celebration. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 and be actively involved with a Fisher club or organization whose programs reflect a strong commitment to diversity, equality, and social justice. In five years, Do sees herself as a travel nurse, perhaps even abroad.
