Iona College Extension Site Ed.D. Graduates Receive Their Doctoral Hoods
On Saturday, March 23, the St. John Fisher College Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education held a hooding and awards ceremony for graduates of the Ed.D. in Executive Leadership program at Iona College, one of two extension sites where the program is offered.
Dr. Mike Wischnowski, dean of the School of Education, and Dr. Jeannine Dingus-Eason, program director, addressed the 19 graduates present at the ceremony.
Dr. Sean Davenport, a leadership development coach, was selected as the student speaker. Davenport has worked for 13 years at the New York City Department of Education, serving as a principal and leadership coach. He is also vice president of the Fathers Know Best Youth Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in communication from Norfolk State University, and in 2001, earned a master’s degree in education administration from Fordham University.
During the ceremony, the College honored three students for their achievements. Dr. Gina Gaines received the Exemplary Performance in Scholarship Award, Dr. Alexandria Connally earned the Exemplary Performance in Service Award, and Dr. Vanessa Vasquez was given the Exemplary Performance in Leadership Award.
