Four Earn “Honors in Nursing” Distinction

On Thursday, May 2, Honors in Nursing distinctions were conferred on four students in the Wegmans School of Nursing—Zachary Duris, Gabriella Loren, Victoria Merrick, and Hannah Norberg—following presentations of their projects.

Duris (faculty mentor: Dr. Christine Boev) presented, “Don't be a Jerk: A qualitative exploration of nurse/physician collaboration.” Loren (faculty mentor: Dr. Beth Kiss) presented, “Nursing interventions to promote the psychological development in pediatric oncology patients.”  Merrick (faculty mentor: Dr. Alison Simpson) presented, “Nursing led heart failure education: The effects on readmission rates.” Norberg (faculty member: Dr. Kylene Abraham) presented, “Neonatal abstinence syndrome.”

Students who wish to graduate with Honors in Nursing must meet certain academic requirements and work with a nursing faculty mentor to develop a project proposal. The project is completed during the final semester of the student’s senior year and presented at a Wegmans School of Nursing Colloquium. Honors in Nursing are conferred by vote of the nursing faculty to graduating undergraduate students who have achieved academic distinction and have completed an Honors Project.
