Fisher, 540WMain Communiversity Collaborate on Frederick Douglass Exhibit
Through the month of April, reproductions of Frederick Douglass photographs will be on display at the Douglass Auditorium through a partnership between St. John Fisher College and local organization 540WMain Communiversity, located in the Susan B. Anthony District of Downtown Rochester.
The exhibit, which features four framed reproductions of Douglass photographs from the special collections holdings of Fisher’s Lavery Library, celebrates the grand re-opening of the Douglass Auditorium at 36 King Street (formally the Frederick Douglass Resource Center). Coordinated by Calvin Eaton, executive director of 540WMain, and Fisher student Kat Whitmoyer, a senior psychology major and intern at 540W Main, the exhibit includes information about, and reproductions of, Douglass’ newspaper, The North Star, also on loan from the Library. These prints will be on display for the full month of April.
The Douglass Auditorium is an 80-person auditorium/theater and event space operated by 540, Inc. The mission of Douglass Auditorium is to provide a low cost, inclusive, and accessible theater space to groups and organizations committed to the arts and social justice.
