Countdown to Commencement 2020: Emily Risch
Emily Risch, marketing major, is this week’s featured senior in our Countdown to Commencement series. She was nominated by Lori Hollenbeck, assistant dean in the School of Business and program chair of the MBA program.
Risch, a four-year member of the women’s volleyball team, said one of her favorite memories was when the team won the Empire 8 Championship – a first in program history.
Aside from volleyball, she has been involved in the College’s chapter of the American Marketing Association, serving as co-president, and has traveled to New Orleans each year with the chapter for the Association’s International Collegiate Conference. She is also a member of the School of Business Dean’s Student Advisory Council and the All-College Choir.
Hollenbeck credits Risch for the work she has done for the School of Business as a student employee responsible for social media content creation and promotion, adding that her work in internships with companies like Dixon Schwabl and Qualtrics have helped enhance her work on behalf of the School.
What will she miss most about Risch? Her “thoughtful analysis when considering solutions or problems to questions posed.”
Following graduation, Risch will start a full-time position with Qualtrics at the company’s Raleigh, North Carolina office, a position she secured after her internship.
Risch’s advice to future students is advice heard so often from current Fisher students - get involved.
“People will be so, so impressed with you if you just immerse yourself in what Fisher has to offer because they have so much to offer and I found that out through my involvement. It’s done nothing but good things for me. I’m in a really good position right now and I’ve made so many good friends through the involvement that I’ve done on campus and it’s just the best thing that you could possibly do here,” she said.
