Countdown to Commencement 2020: Stephanie Cook
Inclusive childhood education and Spanish major, Stephanie Cook, is this week’s featured senior in our Countdown to Commencement series. She was nominated by Dr. Jen Pluretti, career and academic planning advisor in the Center for Career and Academic Planning.
Cook is a familiar face for most students, as she has been an integral part of Orientation over the last three years for first-year students, when she wasn’t participating as a new student herself! In 2019, as a senior, she served as a student orientation coordinator, leading the whole weekend alongside three other coordinators. She has also been a peer mentor for a Freshman Seminar Class, helping students transition to college and specifically, to Fisher.
In addition, Cook has been involved with the Teddi Dance for Love throughout her time at Fisher, serving as a captain in the 2020 Teddi, which raised over $111,000 for Camp Good Days and Special Times. Finally, she has been a member of the Teacher Education Student Assocation.
“Stephanie is dedicated to making all first-year students’ experiences amazing! She teachers two first year seminars, and has been a committed member of the Orientation team. She studied abroad in spring 2019, and willingly talks about her experiences abroad in order to encourage them to go too,” said Pluretti.
She said what she will remember most about Cook is her great energy, her smile, her compassion, and her dedication to excellence and predicts that she will earn recognition for teaching excellence by not only the school district she lands but also by the state!
