Miller Smith Appointed to Fairport Board of Education
Dr. Arlette Miller Smith, a longtime professor in the School of Arts and Science and Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, was recently appointed to the Fairport Central School District’s Board of Education.
Miller Smith will serve out the term of former board member Judy O’Leary-Sargeant, who resigned from her position in January. A Fairport resident since 1988, Miller Smith and her husband, Art, also a Fisher employee, raised their two children in the district.
In a statement announcing her appointment, Board of Education President Tim Slisz said that Miller Smith’s career in education and involvement in civic organizations throughout Rochester would be a “great asset” to the board as it focuses on issues of diversity in the coming year.
