Countdown to Commencement 2023: Marissa Brennan
Mathematics and statistics double major Marissa Brennan is the next member of the Class of 2023 to be featured in the “Countdown to Commencement” series. Brennan was nominated by Sarah Mancini-Goebert, assistant director, Office of Campus Ministry.
A native of Akron, New York, Brennan has had a quiet yet powerful impact on campus through her roles on the peer ministry leadership team and as a music minister with the Office of Campus Ministry. Brennan is also part of Fisher Dance on campus.
“As a music minister, she adds the gift of her viola to our Sunday evening chapel night and has been an impactful member of our team, leading our service opportunities after Mass on Sunday evenings,” said Mancini-Goebert.
Through involvement in Campus Ministry, Brennan has developed an appreciation for community service efforts. Alongside her peer ministry partner, she has organized a letter writing campaign to veterans, a candy drive and trick-or-treat bags for 200+ students in the city of Rochester, arranged care kits for the homeless, cards for breast cancer patients, and so much more. She is also a dedicated member of the Teddi Dance for Love Committee. Brennan’s impact on campus is driven by her efforts to give back to the Rochester community.
“Marissa’s ability to get the job done thoroughly and professionally, no matter what we ask of her, is amazing. She does it so graciously with a smile on her face as well as with a quiet and calming demeanor,” said Mancini-Goebert.
Currently, Brennan is an actuarial intern for Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. Following graduation, she will begin working as an actuarial analyst with the company.
“Fisher has allowed me the opportunity to find who I truly am,” Brennan said. “Fisher has blessed me with amazing friends, peers, and teachers that have made a huge impact on my life. Fisher is my family and I have loved every minute of my time here.”
