Countdown to Commencement: Corey Plakosh
Next to be featured in our “Countdown to Commencement” series is Corey Plakosh, a pharmaceutical studies major who will earn his bachelor’s degree this year and continue in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Fisher. Plakosh was nominated by the Office of Admissions.
Throughout his time at Fisher, Plakosh has remained highly involved. He serves as a Peer Minister, a representative of the Honors Program in the SGA Senate, a student ambassador, and is often described as a natural leader. His nomination read, “Although Corey’s schedule is packed, he always finds time to check in with those he cares about and have fun. Corey lives life to the fullest and brings the fun with him wherever he goes.”
Involvement on campus has also allowed Plakosh to serve the community. He participates in SCALE, a program within the Wegmans School of Pharmacy that guides students through involvement. Additionally, he is involved in two pharmacy organizations, the Pharmacy Student Government Association and the American Pharmacists Association. “I’m going to be a student who had a successful academic experience and a great well-rounded experience because of these different programs. And that’s what is unbeatable about the Wegmans School of Pharmacy,” said Plakosh.
Plakosh said that being a peer minister has been the most impactful and positive experience for him. As a gifted musician, he has utilized his talent during Chapel Nights as a part of the music ministry.
When asked what advice he would offer to students, Plakosh’s theme was to explore.
“Allow yourself to continue on with what you’re doing without necessarily knowing every single step of the way. Now is your time in college to really explore different opportunities, dive into your programs, and take opportunities you might not have taken prior,” he said.
