Countdown to Commencement: Khalid Lockhart
The next student to be featured in our “Countdown to Commencement” series is Khalid Lockhart, a marketing major with a minor in economics. Lockhart was nominated by Dr. Marlowe Washington, senior diversity officer.
Lockhart is described as incredibly helpful, exceptional in the classroom, and a well-respected student. He serves as a peer mentor, and a member of the School of Business Dean’s Student Advisory Council, the Black Student Union, and the Latino Student Union. He has a passion for inviting and welcoming students to get involved in the School’s activities.
From a young age, Lockhart has had a passion for entrepreneurship which started from working in a barber shop. This experience led him to start his very own barber shop business. “Whether I pursue barbering full-time, or enter into the marketing world, I believe Fisher has prepared me,” said Lockhart.
Lockhart is also a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) which has been a memorable experience during his time at Fisher. He has enjoyed connecting with his peers during the annual trip to the National AMA conference in New Orleans as well as participating in the AMA Regional Conference.
According to Washington, Lockhart’s professional and personal growth has been facilitated by these opportunities, and his active engagement across Fisher has transformed him into a proactive leader, advocating for meaningful change.
