Golisano Institute Hosts Table at Festival of Inclusion
On Saturday, Feb. 24, the Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing participated in the Golisano Foundation’s third annual Festival of Inclusion.
Dr. Dianne Cooney Miner, founding executive director of the Institute, Dr. Holly Brown, current executive director, and Stephanie Smyth, student success facilitator at the Wegmans School of Nursing, hosted a table. They were joined by Fisher students Angelica Funes and Sarah Costello.
The Festival promoted the inclusive services offered by dozens of agencies and offered a host of interactive, sensory friendly activities, including a photo booth, virtual reality, therapy animals, adaptive equipment demonstrations, medical specialist information, and more.
Established in 2018 through the generosity of the Golisano Foundation and B. Thomas Golisano, the Institute transforms the quality of care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) regionally, nationally, and internationally by training nursing professionals in field-specific skills and knowledge.
