Mental Health in Focus on Fresh Check Day
From noon to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, the Donald E. Bain Campus Center Atrium will be transformed into an expo-like atmosphere with interactive exhibits featuring food, prizes, and giveaways in an effort to raise awareness for mental health on college campuses.
Fresh Check Day, created by the Jordan Porco Foundation, will include booths offering resources about mental health to increase knowledge, decrease stigma, and teach coping skills.
Hosted by the Health and Wellness Center, the day is organized with the support of the Office of Campus Ministry, Office of Residence Life, Office of Safety and Security, students and faculty from the Athletic Performance Program, and student clubs including Athlete2Athlete, Psychology Club, Sexual and Gender Alliance, Fisher Student Respect Alliance, and the Student Government Association. Student Health Ambassadors, a group of students who work to promote health education on campus, will also host a booth.
Students who turn in a completed registration will be entered in to a raffle. There will also be giveaways and vouchers for free Rita’s Italian Ice at the event. In addition, therapy dogs will be on hand to offer a paw of support.
