Countdown to Commencement 2025: Brooke Eastman

Brooke Eastman, a media and communication major, is this week’s featured senior in the “Countdown to Commencement” series. She was nominated by Dr. Dougie Bicket, assistant professor of media and communication.

Eastman found her passion in writing early in her college career, which helped her step out of her comfort zone, and she became very involved on campus. Thanks to Involvement Fest, she learned about the Cardinal Courier, which is a student news publication at Fisher covering news, opinion, lifestyle, and sports. She continued to get daily writing practice, which led to her promotion to managing editor.

Eastman and the rest of the Cardinal Courier team were given the opportunity to attend a networking event for the College Media Association in New York City.

“We were given the opportunity to network with a bunch of media professionals, attend informational sessions that were catered to our interest, and learn from some of the best,” Eastman said.

Eastman credits her Cardinal Courier team throughout her four years for making her Fisher experience a memorable one. She emphasizes the importance of taking advantage of opportunities that are given to you.

“College flies by, and four years go by really fast. Everything is going to be scary, but if you wait until you're brave enough to do something you’re never going to do it. So just do it, scared,” she said.
