Several online graduate offerings at St. John Fisher University were recognized in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Programs ranking.

The rankings evaluate online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in seven disciplines offered by regionally accredited institutions. Fisher’s MBA program, housed in the School of Business, was ranked No. 88 in its first year of eligibility. The M.S. in Nursing online pathway, offered through the Wegmans School of Nursing, ranked No. 93, moving up 44 spots from last year. The master’s in nursing program as a whole is also ranked each year by U.S. News; in 2024, it placed No. 31 on the Best Grad Schools list. The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education’s suite of online master’s degree programs were also included in the publication’s overall rankings.

“The University’s investment in creating a robust offering of online programming has expanded the accessibility and reach of a Fisher education,” said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of the University. “Our online graduate programs are designed to mirror the excellence of our on-campus pathways—delivering transformative learning experiences and fostering academic and professional growth within our students.”

In summer 2022, the AACSB-accredited School of Business reimagined its MBA program and transitioned to a fully online offering.  The program provides a foundation in business theories with four concentration options to give students a competitive edge in the workplace.

Offered online or on campus, the M.S. in Nursing program equips students for the next phase of their nursing career. Students can enroll in one of four specialized degree programs: Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The School of Nursing welcomed its first cohort of students into the online pathway in fall 2021.

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education’s master’s degree programs are offered in an online or hybrid modality, providing students with flexibility and convenience as they pursue graduate study. The inclusive education program is designed for individuals looking to make a career change to become a teacher, while the library media, literacy, and educational leadership programs provide educators with the knowledge and skills to advance in their career to become teacher librarians, literacy professionals, or building leaders. This summer, the School is introducing a reduced tuition model for its master’s degree programs to broaden access and provide affordability to interested candidates.
