Farnsworth Elected to Sports Information Directors Board
Sean Farnsworth, athletics communications coordinator for St. John Fisher College, was recently elected to a two-year term as the Region 2 representative on the Division III Sports Information Directors of America Board of Directors.
A 2005 alumnus of the College, Farnsworth joined the Athletics Department in 2017 after having previously served in the athletic communications department at Ithaca College.
Since his arrival at Fisher, Farnsworth has covered three national champions and a national runner-up finish by the softball team in 2017. During his tenure, he has helped to promote 32 student-athletes who earned 64 All-American honors including nine who would be named Academic All-American by CoSIDA. He has also restructured the department’s live stream to include scoreboards, graphical content, and instant replay as Fisher expanded its broadcasting to include track and field, baseball, and softball. He also chairs Fisher’s Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.
In 2018, Farnsworth was instrumental in the College winning a prestigious NCAA grant, which allowed the department to create a digital media specialist position in an effort to further enhance the College's video presence.
In addition to his bachelor’s degree from Fisher, Farnsworth holds a master’s degree in sport management from SUNY Cortland.
A member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA), he has served on the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee since 2018. He is also a voting member for the D3baseball.com top 25 national poll and the AP Football All-America committee.
