Fisher Student Recipient of LAGRANT Scholarship
St. John Fisher College student Riley Moscicki was recently named the recipient of a LAGRANT Foundation Scholarship. One of only 30 undergraduates nationwide chosen for the scholarship, Moscicki is a media management major at the College.
The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) aims to increase the number of ethnic minorities in advertising, marketing, and public relations by dispersing scholarship funds, offering career and professional development opportunities, and providing mentorship and internships to African American/Black, Alaska Native/Native American, Asian American/ Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino undergraduate and graduate students. To qualify for the scholarships, students must attend a four-year accredited institution in the U.S. and major in the fields of advertising, marketing, or public relations.
At Fisher, Moscicki holds leadership positions with The PRIMA Group, a student-run, fully integrated public relations, advertising, and marketing, firm, and in the coming academic year, will serve as president of the College’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America as well as the Black Student Union. She has also served as a development and event planning intern for Holy Childhood, a nonprofit that provides programs and help for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Upon graduation, Moscicki hopes to pursue a career either working for a travel public relations agency or the food and beverage industry. She said experiences offered at Fisher, including knowledgeable professors, a wide variety of clubs, and networking events, paired with the TLF scholarship, have helped her become prepared to achieve those goals.
“This scholarship has not only helped me financially but has allowed me to learn so much through educational webinars and networking events from some of the best public relations firms in the country,” Moscicki said. “As a scholarship recipient, we are also invited to participate in career development workshops where industry professionals offer career advice. TLF has opened so many doors for me and has provided so many resources to help me be successful in the future.”
