Price Named APHA Sewell Scholar Recipient
Michelle Price, sciences, health sciences, and special collections librarian at Lavery Library, was awarded one of 18 Sewell Scholarships to attend the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting virtually this October.
The scholarship aims to increase librarians’ effectiveness at providing reliable and relevant information to health care professionals in the fields of public health and pharmacy. To achieve this purpose, the offers reimbursement funds to librarians and other information professionals to defray association membership/registration/travel and per diem expenses of attending and/or participating in activities of APHA.
As a Scholar, Price will be mentored by Dr. Heather McGrane-Minton, director of Fisher’s master of public health program. Price and McGrane-Minton had served as faculty mentors together for two years for the RMAP fellowship as part of the Summer Research Fellows program.
As a Sewell Scholar, Price will meet with her cohort prior to the conference, and contribute to a group paper. She will also have the opportunity to volunteer with APHA in some capacity throughout the year.
