What to Expect during Orientation 2022
Orientation 2022 begins with Move-In Day on Saturday, Sept. 3 and concludes with the Matriculation Ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 6, marking the start of your arrival at St. John Fisher University.
The University’s Orientation program is designed to help students discover what Fisher has to offer, connect with their peers, and engage in the many opportunities on campus. Read on for a run-down of Move-In Day and a few tips and tricks for making the day a success. For a details on what to expect, visit the First-Year Orientation website.
Residential Students
9 a.m. to noon: Resident Student Check-in and Move-In
Use the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center Entrance (except those living in Murphy Hall). Check-in will take place at your residence hall.
- Please be patient and arrive at your assigned time as we will not be able to accommodate early arrivals.
- From the parking lots, you will be directed to individual residence halls.
- The Orientation Team and Residential Life staff will be there to welcome you, help you unpack your car, and help move you in.
- You will need to check in at your individual residence hall to receive your room key and student ID.
- Once you are in your room, connect with your roommate and start your residential journey!
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Grab-and-Go Light Lunch for all students and families! Head over to the Ward-Haffey Dining Hall for a light lunch.
2 p.m. Parents: please plan to say your goodbyes as the formal Orientation program begins for students only immediately following and continues for the remainder of the weekend. We look forward to seeing you again for Family Weekend 2022, scheduled for October 7-9!
Commuter Students
2:15 p.m. Commuter Students enjoy a fun kick-off event in the Elaine Wilson Formal Lounge. Commuter students should park in Lot A before heading to the kick-off event.
Early Arrival Athletes
If you are an early arrival athlete, you will report to campus as directed by your coach.
Transfer Students
Students transferring to Fisher have two options for Orientation participation:
Option 1: Full Program
Transfer students interested in participating in the complete program will begin Orientation on Saturday, Sept. 3. Students will be assigned to an Orientation Group with other transfer students led by an Orientation Leader. In this group, you will meet fellow transfer students and learn about campus life, academic and behavioral expectations, campus support services, and all that Fisher has to offer. Transfer students interested in this option should expect to be occupied with Orientation on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 3 to 10:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Option 2: Shorter Program
Transfer students may also choose to participate in Orientation on Monday, Sept. 5 beginning with their iPad appointment (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and continuing with sessions until 4:30 p.m. During this time, you will meet other new transfer students and learn about campus life, academic tools, campus support services, and all that Fisher has to offer.
