St. John Fisher University Partners with Syracuse University to Offer 4+1 Program
St. John Fisher University has partnered with Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communication to offer a 4+1 program, allowing qualified students to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years.
Undergraduate students who earn at 3.25 GPA or higher will have their application fee to Newhouse waived and receive automatic acceptance into Newhouse. They are also eligible to apply for graduate scholarships and research or teaching assistantships. The top two applicants from Fisher each year will automatically receive 32.5 percent off their Newhouse tuition. Master’s degree options at Newhouse include advertising; broadcast and digital journalism; magazine, news, and digital journalism; multimedia, photography and design; public diplomacy and global communications; television, radio, and film; audio arts; Goldring arts journalism and communications; media studies; new media management; and public relations.
“This is an exciting opportunity for our students, because it allows them to combine their liberal arts experience at Fisher with graduate level training at Newhouse,” said Jeremy Sarachan, chair of the Department of Media and Communication. “Upon graduation, they will be able to hit the ground running in the national job market.”
