Foster Honored with Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award
Dr. Amanda Foster, visiting assistant professor of pharmacy practice and administration community pharmacy practice with the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, is the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award from the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York (PSSNY). The award will be presented during the PSSNY Annual Convention in Saratoga, N.Y. on July 1.
According to the PSSNY, the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award recognizes members who practice in institutional, community, or consulting pharmacy; have practiced pharmacy for nine years or less; and are actively involved in community service efforts, national pharmacy associations, state association activities, or professional programs. The annual honor highlights the work of one pharmacist in each state for their contributions to the field of pharmacy.
Foster earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from D’Youville University School of Pharmacy, and has served as a visiting assistant professor with the Wegmans School of Pharmacy since 2022. Several of her recent publications and presentations have been focused on topics related to community pharmacy, including implementation and evaluation of social determinants of health practice models within community pharmacy and the intersection of social health needs and community pharmacy.
In addition to her role in academia, Foster also serves as a clinical community pharmacist for Wegmans Pharmacy and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Pharmacists Society of Rochester.
Previous recipients of the PSSNY Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award with ties to the Wegmans School include Associate Professor, Dr. Alex DeLucenay ’06 ’10 (Pharm.D.) and alumna Dr. Joy Snyder ’18 (Pharm.D.) ’21 (MPH).
