Liu Recognized in Investment News Forty Under 40
Dr. Yi Liu, assistant professor of finance, has been recognized among Investment News’ 2023 Class of Forty Under 40 recipients.
Each year, the program honors up-and-comers in the financial advice industry. Finalists are chosen by the publication’s editorial team via a nomination process that garners over 1,000 nominations annually. They are judged on their accomplishments, contribution to the industry, leadership, and promise.
Liu earned an M.S. and Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University, an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a B.A. in Marketing from China. Prior to her time at Fisher, she worked as an assistant professor in the Finance and Economics Department at College for Financial Planning.
An active researcher, Liu has presented at national conferences, including the CFP Board Academic Research Colloquium, Academy Financial Service and the AFCPE Symposium. Her research interests are focused on financial planning, investment decision making, psychosocial attributes and household finances, specifically stock ownership, asset decumulation, personality traits, financial well-being, and the application of positive psychology to financial planning. Since earning her Ph.D. in 2020, she has published six papers in financial planning journals including the Financial Planning Review, Journal of Family and Economic Issues, Journal of Personal Finance, and Applied Economics Letters.
