Nagel Chosen for Prestigious Academic Leadership Fellows Program
Dr. Angela Nagel, associate dean for academic affairs at the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, was recently selected to participate in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s prestigious Academic Leadership Fellows Program (ALFP).
The program, now in its 20th year, supports the development of leaders in academic pharmacy and higher education. Through in-depth curriculum that explores leadership theory and personal skills enhancement, fellows will address topics including lead change; conflict management; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and leadership styles, among others.
“For several years, I have looked forward to the opportunity to become a fellow of the ALFP. This program will enhance my existing knowledge while gaining fresh perspectives from fellow participants throughout the academy,” said Nagel.
Nagel is the seventh faculty member from Fisher to be selected for the program. Upon completion in 2024, she will join more than 500 program alumni, many of whom have assumed leadership positions in academic pharmacy, higher education, and other health care fields.
Nagel, who brings over 20 years of pharmacy practice experience to the classroom and clinical practice settings, has been affiliated with the School of Pharmacy since its inception. Prior to joining Fisher, she was a clinical pharmacist at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), at both Strong Memorial Hospital and Golisano Children’s Hospital. While at URMC, she served as a pharmacy mentor and preceptor for the inaugural class of Pharm.D. candidates and was an original member of the Assessment Committee, as the community representative. In 2009, Nagel joined the Wegmans School of Pharmacy as an assistant professor in ambulatory care pharmacy (family medicine).
At Fisher, Nagel serves as the faculty co-advisor for the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacist (SSHP). She currently is co-chair of the School Strategic Plan Committee and is a member of the Curriculum Committee. In addition to service to the School, Nagel has served on University-level committees including Faculty Statutes Revision and Strategic Review. She has been an active member of the Rochester Area Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, serving as a board member in various positions. In addition, she has been involved in several committees within the New York State Council of Hospital Pharmacists. At a national level, she serves the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and the American Pharmacist Association.
