Ed.D. in Executive Leadership Program Honored for Advancing Women of Color
The Ed.D. in Executive Leadership Program through the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher University was honored during the Women of Color Summit Kick-Off Event, held on Thursday, June 6, in Niagara Falls.
The summit was hosted by Eleversity, a nonprofit organization that partners with businesses and organizations across New York to provide educational opportunities that aim to elevate the skills of the regional workforce.
The program was given the Advancing Forward and Upward Award, which recognizes individuals or organizations that make valuable contributions to the advancement of women of color. The Ed.D. program is among the most diverse degree programs at the University; more than 40 percent of the program’s alumni are people of color.
Dr. Shannon Cleverley-Thompson, visiting assistant professor, accepted the award on behalf of the program.
“Thank you to Eleversity and the statewide planning team for honoring the Ed.D. in Executive Leadership Program at St. John Fisher University as an organization who amplifies the voices and experiences of Women of Color. This honor is a recognition and tribute to the efforts and dedication of many people in Rochester, New Rochelle and Syracuse,” she said.
At the summit, two graduates of the program, Dr. Angelia Smith-Wilson and Dr. Andrea Cain-Lawson, were also honored.
