Endowed Scholarship Supports Students at Fisher
A new endowed scholarship will support graduates of Rochester’s Catholic high schools as they pursue higher education at St. John Fisher University.
The Gary ’73 and Victoria Profetta Endowed Scholarship was created thanks to a $110,000 gift from alumnus Gary Profetta and his wife, Victoria. The Profettas are graduates of Rochester Catholic schools, Gary is an alumnus of Bishop Kearney and Victoria attended Our Lady of Mercy. Through their philanthropy, they hope to help fellow Catholic school alumni pursue A Fisher degree, with a special focus on those wishing to study abroad in Europe.
Study abroad continues to gain momentum and Fisher partners with several affiliates to offer students the opportunity to study in more than 100 locations worldwide. The most popular destinations for students include Italy, Spain, Ireland, England, and Australia.
“International education is an enriching experience for students; Fisher is grateful to the Profettas for endowing a scholarship that will make these opportunities more accessible for them to engage in these life-changing – and in some cases, once in a lifetime – opportunities,” said Chris Biehn, vice president for institutional advancement.
